Wayfare makes travel goods the way they were made before there were carry-on dimensions: 18-ounce waxed canvas, sand-cast brass, vegetable-tanned bridle leather. Every piece is built in our Lisbon workshop by eleven people who put their initial inside the lining.

Our catalogue has held the same four pieces for the last seven years. We refine the pattern; we don't change the pieces. If a piece works, it stays.
Canvas / Brass

Single-piece bridle leather, hand-stitched in Porto, holds two weeks of toiletries.

Tool-roll format, six pockets, brass snap closure. We use it for cameras.
Three lives so far
We get letters from people whose Wayfare bag has outlasted three apartments and two relationships. Here are three of them.
2015 · Marrakech
Elena Voss bought the carryall for a single trip to Morocco in 2015. As of last March, it has been on every assignment, in 41 countries, never repaired. We finally restitched the handle this April.
2018 · Across three winters
Hiroshi took the Atlas Dopp on three consecutive January assignments to Japan. The bridle leather went from oxblood to almost-black. He sent us a photo: it looks like a different bag.
2021 · Mongolia, mud
Inés filed her bag for repair after Mongolia. It came back two weeks later, cleaned, restitched, brass polished. She wrote: 'You did not need to do all that.' We did.
Most travel bags now are 9oz nylon with plated zinc and a 12-month warranty. We don't see how a bag like that becomes a piece anybody keeps.

"I've taken the Lisbon Carryall to 41 countries since 2022. Three years in, the canvas is softer, the brass is patinated, the leather corners are darker. It looks better than the day it shipped."
